Each cell has three states. Click once for ✓ (this is true), again for ✕ (ruled out), again to clear it. Marking a ✓ automatically rules out the rest of that row and column, because each person gets exactly one of each thing.

Ticking a clue off the list crosses it out, so you can keep track of which ones you have already used. It does not affect the answer.

Every puzzle has exactly one solution, and it is reachable from the clues alone — no guessing is ever required. That is checked by machine before a puzzle ships: the program tries every possible arrangement and refuses to publish any puzzle that has none, or more than one. If you get stuck, the puzzle is still solvable.

You get one hint per puzzle. It fills in one correct cell and locks it, and costs 40% of the score. There is one so that a puzzle you cannot crack does not end the session — not so that a puzzle can be finished without reading it.

A wrong answer costs 20%. Five of them and the puzzle is worth nothing, which is deliberate: guessing your way through the arrangements until one sticks should not put a score on the board.

The clues use the cases in the places Polish actually uses them, which is the part textbooks tend to drill in isolation. Mieszka w Krakowie is locative, and you have to recognise it as Kraków to fill the grid. Pozycja Marka is genitive, and you have to recognise it as Marek. Zajmuję is first person and zajmuje is third — in the “who is lying” puzzles that difference tells you whether someone is talking about themselves.

Comparatives (wyżej niż), negation (nie mieszka) and ordinals (3. miejsce) all carry real weight. Misread one and the grid will not close.
