A simple routine

How the learning path works

Small, connected steps make difficult Polish feel manageable.

1

Start at Lesson 1

Begin with the alphabet and pronunciation, then work down the list. Nothing is locked, so you can jump around if you prefer.

2

Practise as you go

Every lesson has audio examples, drills where you produce the language yourself, a short dialogue and a recap.

3

Come back to what you missed

Words you get wrong go into your personal vocabulary, and the games and tables are there whenever you want to drill something.

Already know some Polish? The grammar placement quiz can suggest roughly where to start. It estimates a grammar range — it is not a CEFR assessment.

Good to know

Common questions

The honest answers before you begin.

Is Speak Polski really free?

Yes — 100% free, forever. All 28 lessons, the games, the quizzes and the verb & noun tables are completely free. No account, no paywall, no limits. There are no ads either — Speak Polski is kept going by readers who choose to leave a small tip.

Can I learn Polish from zero here?

Yes. The path starts from scratch with the alphabet and pronunciation, then builds step by step through greetings, grammar, the case system, tenses and verb aspect, through to upper-intermediate grammar topics. No prior Polish needed.

Is Polish hard to learn?

Polish has a tough reputation — mostly its seven cases and verb aspect. The good news is that Polish spelling is relatively consistent once you learn its key letter combinations, so reading gets comfortable earlier than you’d expect. One lesson at a time, it’s very learnable.

How long does it take to learn Polish?

That depends on how much time you can give it, what languages you already speak, and how much Polish you hear and use outside of study. Speak Polski is self-paced, so take as long as you like over the 28 lessons.

Will this course make me B2?

No, and we won’t pretend otherwise. The lessons cover grammar and vocabulary from absolute-beginner foundations through upper-intermediate topics, which is a solid backbone. A CEFR level also depends on listening, speaking, extended reading and writing — things this site practises only in part. Use it as your structured base, and get real conversation practice alongside it.

Do I need an account?

Not to learn — every lesson, game and tool works without one. You only need an account for one thing: keeping your progress when you switch browser or device. Without it, progress stays in this browser (you can also export a backup file on the progress page).

What’s the best way to start?

Start at Lesson 1 and work down the list. If you already know some Polish, the grammar placement quiz can suggest roughly where to jump in — it estimates a grammar range, not a CEFR level.
